LICENCE
=======

This package combines material under different terms. The breakdown below is
authoritative; ATTRIBUTION.md gives the source and citation for every
third-party item.

Where a deposit form accepts only one licence field, state CC BY-SA 4.0 — the
most restrictive of the open licences used here. Section 4 is not covered by
that statement.

2. DATA COLLECTED FOR THIS STUDY — CC BY 4.0
--------------------------------------------

   data/task_log_deidentified.csv
   self_report/computed_metrics.csv
   self_report/Supplementary_File_S5_Codebook.csv

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International.
Full text: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode

These files are de-identified. Re-identification of participants, or any attempt
at it, is not permitted under this licence.

3. CORPUS-DERIVED AGGREGATES — CC BY-SA 4.0
-------------------------------------------

   complexity/namefreq_v18.json
   complexity/clause_logfreq_v18.json
   complexity/frag_metrics.json

Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International.
Full text: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode

The first two files are aggregates derived from the Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae
corpus dumps (Earlier Egyptian v18; Late Egyptian v19), which are published under
CC BY-SA 4.0; ShareAlike requires the derivatives to carry the same licence.
frag_metrics.json is computed from those aggregates and is placed under the same
licence for the same reason. See ATTRIBUTION.md for the citations and URNs.

4. THIRD-PARTY MATERIAL — NOT LICENSED BY THE AUTHORS
-----------------------------------------------------

   gold/fragments_gold.json
Reference reading of the four experimental fragments of Stela BM EA567,
following the edition published in the online Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae.

   gold/jsesh_mdc_canonical.tsv
The official JSesh Manuel de Codage correspondence table (396 codes).

   reference_translation_Lichtheim_1988.md
Four short passages quoted from Miriam Lichtheim, Ancient Egyptian
Autobiographies Chiefly of the Middle Kingdom (OBO 84), Freiburg and
       Göttingen 1988, pp. 114-116.

These files are working reference material, included so that the reported
analysis can be checked against the same input the analysis used. They are not a
republication of the underlying editions or translation. The authors grant no
licence over them and claim no rights in them: rights remain with their
respective holders, and all three items are expressly excluded from the licences
in sections 1-3. The Lichtheim passages in particular are quoted only to the
extent needed to verify the translation-layer comparison — four short passages
corresponding to the four experimental fragments — and any reuse beyond that
verification requires permission from the rights holder.

NOTE ON AUTHORSHIP
------------------

The copyright line in section 1 is deliberately impersonal: this package is
supplied under a double-anonymised review policy and contains no author names.
The named copyright holders are to be inserted when the deposit is made public.
